This website has been set up to provide information about the development of a proposed Water Level Management Board (Internal Drainage Board) for the Lyth and Witherslack area. These proposals are still being developed following consultation that took place in July and August 2015 and a summary of the outcome of the consultation is on the Consultation page (see Consultation)
Please also see the Latest News section (Latest News) which contains an announcement by the Environment Agency on extending the withdrawal deadline for the four land drainage pumping stations in the Lyth Valley until 31st December 2020 and continuing funding for the pumping stations until the community has all options for an alternative solution open to them for consideration. This extension reflects the need for amendments to the 1991 Land Drainage Act to enable new Water Level Management Boards to become established.
